You are welcome to come join us in the world of Bharata Natyam. Bharat Natyam is a Southern Indian classical dance style. At Indian Dance School Monsoon in The Hague, you can attend classes in this particular dance style. Jolanda Boejharat, (teacher, dancer and choreographer) will teach you everything you need to know. You can participate in group classes or do private lessons at a starter, intermediate or advanced level, working towards your official podium debut or arangetram.

India is known for its rich tradition of classical folk dance styles. In The Netherlands of those dance styles are popularly practised: Bharata Natyam (from Southern India), Kathak (North India) and Odissi. At Indian Dance School Monsoon, we teach the authentic Bharata Natyam tradition. Besides acquiring dancing skills this includes knowledge about musical accompaniment, costume/makeup and details on the history of Bharata Natyam.

Jolanda Boejharat is a dance teacher, but also the founder of Indian Dance School Monsoon. After her arangetram in 1991, Jolanda was determined to further share her knowledge about Indian Dance (Bharata Natyam, Kathak and fusion forms). Jolanda had her own successful career as a dancer. Jolanda had a successful career as a dancer. Nowadays she at different levels teaches, choreographs and coaches dancers.

Beginners, intermediates and advanceds can take classes at Monsoon.

We are giving regular live classes at the moment. The groups are small and we – as far as possible – abide by the corona safety measures. In the case of new safety measures which prevents us from giving live classes, we will continue them online.
